Anaconda records fall in first meet

MEMBERS from Anaconda Swimming Club (pictured) enjoyed tremendous timing triumphs after setting three new club records in their opening meet in the Speedo League.
Competing against the best clubs in the London Region, Morgan Mockler sealed a new club record of 38 seconds flat to finish third in the 10 to 11-year-olds 50m butterfly. Josh Wright, 16, also set a best time of 66.10 secs when he finished fifth in the 100m open backstroke.
The hat-trick of new and improved club records came in the the under-14s division when Andrew Boadi, John Rivers, Daniel Melville and Dominic McLoughlin came fourth in the 4x50m freestyle relay. Meanwhile the open relay squad of Wright, Brett McLean, Cal McLean, Leo Kirby, Hayden Thomas and Wayne Lock equalled the club record set at last year’s Speedo League when they powered their way to third in the 6x50m freestyle. The team also came third in the medley relay.
Elsewhere Brett McLean took a superb second place in the open 100m breaststroke and swam with great determination to take fourth in the 4x50m individual medley in a new personal best time.
Other individual achievements saw McLoughlin finish third in the under-14s 100m freestyle, Abigail McNeill take third place in the under-16s 100m breaststroke and Kirby seal fourth place in the under-16s 100m butterfly and freestyle events. There was also a fourth place finish for Clare Walton in under-16s backstroke. Meanwhile the nine to 11-year-old girls’ team of Mockler, Holly Harbour, Isabel Patrick and Naomi Jeffs showed great promise as they clinched fourth place in both their medley and freestyle relays.

Storming start in Speedo League


YOUNGSTERS from Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club got their season off to a flying start on Saturday when they stormed to victory in their opening fixture in the Speedo League.
Held at the Southbury Road Pool in Enfield, the Camden team put in a series of commanding pool performances to finish 18 points clear of their nearest rival.
There was double celebrations for the club after five of their top swimmers were selected to represent Middlesex at the National County Teams Championships in Sheffield on Sunday. Ed Walsh is set to swim in the 16/17 100m freestyle and 100m breaststroke events, while Harry Needs will compete in the 14/15 100m backstroke and 100m butterfly.
Bogac Ayhan and Reut Benaim line-up in the 12/13 butterfly, while Felix Samuels has been selected for the relays. .
