Fencers flock to foil tournament
TOP fencers from across the country turned out in force at Acland Burghley Secondary School in Tufnell Park over the weekend as Camden Fencing Club staged their first-ever foil tournament.
More than 220 swordsman from all over Britain took part in the event as the Camden club celebrated holding one of the largest ever competitions in the Leon Paul Junior Series.
Having built a national reputation with the sabre, Camden entered a team of 30 fencers into the competition, demonstrating the enormous progress the club has made in the foil event.
Among the star performers were Isobel Clark and Ava Martinez-Lambert, who both one silver medals in their respective under-9s and under-11s girls’ category.
Daisy Mann-Peet also hit a podium finish as she won silver in the girls’ under-17s category, with club mate Jaqueline Johnson standing by her side after winning bronze. |
