Church fair attracts visitors young and old on special open day
A COMMUNITY fair in a Holborn church gave residents the chance to find out about public services available on their doorstep.
The event, held at St George’s Church in Queen Square, attracted more than 200 visitors on Thursday afternoon.
Bethan Lacey, who works for the church, said: “We provided a welcoming environment for people of all ages, and gave them information about what the local community offers.”
The day opened with a speech by MP Frank Dobson.
Staff from nearby Holborn Library were on hand to provide information for residents.
Entertainment was provided by volunteer musicians and a band made up of students from the School of African and Oriental Studies.
Children were encouraged to write or draw on a “what makes you happy” wall.
Ms Lacey said that the event was “a great way of introducing people to what the church and community offer”.
