‘Sex not walking is vision for the Heath’
A conservation group claims a long-awaited vision for the future of Hamsptead Heath is “more about sex than walking”.
Discussing the final draft of the long-awaited Hampstead Heath Management Plan on Monday night, Heath and Hampstead Society spokesman Jeremy Wright said: “Sexual activities have five times more space than walkers. “Ninety-five per cent of visitors to the Heath are walking, ambling on the Heath (but references to it) are frankly terribly weak. “As a stranger, if I was reading this I would think that bird-watching and sexual activity was more important.”
City of London Alderman Bob Hall and Heath superintendent Simon Lee said the plan, which will decide the future of the Heath over the next 10 years, would include the rights and priorities of walkers as a first principle.”
