Pro touch stars look for new spark after Forest fire
TOP coach at the Pro Touch Soccer Academy Abul Koyar vowed that his team of talented footballers will become better players after their crushing defeat against Nottingham Forest’s Under-16s. Set up in January in a bid to help disadvantaged youngsters make it as professional footballers, the Pro Touch side have continued to go from strength to strength with a series of impressive performances, including a
3-2 victory over a team from the Reading Youth Academy.
But the Camden and Islington-based squad came unstuck in their latest outing on Tuesday when they suffered a heavy 10-2 defeat against a strong Forest side at the Clifton training ground.
Despite missing a number of key players, the Pro Touch side put in a spirited display, with Duane O’achie and Glenn Sonko both finding the back of the net.
After the game senior coach Koyar told the New Journal that although it was a disappointing result, the boys will bounce back and learn from the experience. “Some may see this game as a disappointing performance, and I’d have to agree it was. “But results have never been the main reason why we are here. “It has always been about players development and we’re making small steps towards our long term goals.”
