Hampstead stars impress in trials for Birmingham
SEVEN star players from Hampstead Football Club hit the headlines this week when they were invited to take part in a series of trials at Birmingham City.
Kingsley Osuigwe, Ahmed Elkhasassi, James Dabbs, Benji Gavron, Emilio Benavides-Hazelton, Ciaran Prendeville and Marko Popovic couldn’t hide their delight as they were taken through their paces in a series of tough training sessions at the Premier League club.
As an added bonus, the boys stayed in the Midlands to watch Birmingham’s thrilling 3-2 league victory over Wigan.
The talented squad have been in exceptional form this season, leading Hampstead to the top of the Under-16s Harrow Premier League with five clean sheets in their opening nine games.
After a series of impressive trials, Birmingham invited towering defender Kingsley Osuigwe, who goes to St Aloysius College in Highgate, back to the club at the end of the month for further trials.n HAMPSTEAD Girls Under-15s squad are searching for new players to help save their season. Managed by former Arsenal and England star Kirsty Pealing, the talented squad are making a name for themselves in Division One of the Home Counties Girls League.
