Camden New Journal - Letters to the Editor
Published: 15 November 2007

How to keep busy

• I'M fed up with hearing and reading that young people or teenagers have “nothing to do and nowhere to go”.
As a teenager myself totally disagree. I study, I go to the gym, do sports, evening classes, listen to music, go to the cinema, bowling, eat out, go to cafes with friends, days out, etc. I’m rarely ever bored, because I find there is more than enough to do. We are in an age of computers, iPods, digital cameras, computer games and more. When my grandparents and parents were teenagers in Somers Town, they never had anything like that.
They had to make their own entertainment, which in those days was basic telly and playing in the courtyard in the flats.
These days, with a serious lack of discipline, some people’s idea of fun is hanging outside, throwing fireworks, underage drinking, smoking, being in gangs, having trophy dogs, intimidating residents, wrecking parks, etc...
There’s plenty to do out there-so quit the moaning.
