Hat-trick of wins puts Town top
THREE wins in the space of just seven days saw Kentish Town take top spot in Division One of the Spartan South Midlands League.
Town survived a late fightback at Royston Town on Tuesday to seal a thrilling 4-3 victory. Two goals from Lee Scott, a stunning strike from Kefala Fofana and an own-goal gave Town a commanding 4-1 lead. Royston struck twice late on to set up a nervous finale, but the visitors held on to clinch three valuable points.
The Camden and Islington-based side also ran out winners on Saturday when a single strike from Thomas Looney sealed a 1-0 win over Sport London Benfica at the Barnet Copthall Stadium.
Kentish kicked-off their title charge with an unlikely win over promotion rivals Hoddesdon. Again Town found themselves a goal behind, but two late strikes from Jonathan Donaghue sealed a memorable 2-1 victory.
