Colossal set sights on league title after cup thriller
FC COLOSSAL just missed out on a place in the semi-finals of the Challenge Trophy on Sunday when they were beaten 4-3 by J-Gala at Hackney Marshes.
The Camden and Islington based side are being tipped for promotion this season after taking Division One of the West End Sunday League by storm.
Colossal were always going to be up against it in their cup quarter-final as they took on a side from the Premier Division.
They got off to the worst possible start when they found themselves 2-0 down within the opening 20 minutes of the match. Sanders Omoshebi pulled a goal back for Colossal, but J-Gala showed their experience as they restored their two-goal advantage before the hour mark.
Daryn Hill bagged a brace to set up a nail-biting finale, but in the end the Premiership side held out to seal a thrilling victory.
Under the guidance of first team coach Kevin Ryland, FC Colossal will now turn their attentions to their league campaign.
In their last outing, Omoshebi scored a hat-trick, while Nicky-Lee Paul, Mario Serwin and Alex Daley all scored two goals apiece. Serkan Dervis, Benny Wakefield and Peter ‘Happy Feet’ Parratt were also all on target as Colossal beat Clover Athletic 12-0.
