Hoyte pledges to fight for place

Frustrated young full-back determined to win regular spot in Arsenal team

ROOKIE defender Justin Hoyte has vowed to stay and fight for his place at Arsenal despite his growing frustration at a lack of first-team appearances this season.
A boyhood Gunners fan was ecstatic in April when he signed a new long-term contract, but chances have been few and far between for Hoyte since the arrival of Bacary Sagna.
The 22-year-old admits that he has found it frustrating on the sidelines but is determined to seize any chance he gets.
“Of course I want to stay at the club and fight,” Hoyte told Arsenal.com.
“I am going to knuckle down, train hard, work hard and perform when I get my chance.
“It is tough at the moment because the team is doing so well and a few players are not getting into the team.
“It’s up to us to take our chance if there is an injury.”
Hoyte was joined by more than 120 youngsters from school’s across Islington on Wednesday when he helped launch a new DVD as part of the Show Racism the Red Card campaign at the Emirates stadium.
Hoyte joined former Arsenal players including Paul Davis and Perry Groves in a bid to give racism the boot.
He said: “I think we’ve come a long way to educate people about racism and the Show Racism the Red Card campaign undertakes some great work, challenging racist behaviour and giving people a positive multi-cultural message.
“Here at Arsenal we have players of different religion, ethnic backgrounds and nationalities all pulling together and working as one team. Racism has no place in football or society and together we can help to get rid of it.”
