Standing up to bullies

A FRIENDSHIP scheme between pupils at a Gospel Oak school is putting the “play” back in “playground”, and making bullying a thing of the past.
The Playground Friends at St Dominic’s Primary School, Southampton Road, celebrated National Anti-Bullying Week on Thursday by doing what they do best – giving friendship and support to younger children.
Deputy head Sharon Donovan said: “Lunchtime can be quite an unhappy time for some of the younger children. Playground friends are buddies for them.”
The friends teach their young charges games and help out in the dining hall.
They have also created wristbands bearing the slogan “stand up to bullies”, to be distributed across the school.
