Move over Santa, as Oddie wows a festive fair audience
TELEVISION wildlife presenter Bill Oddie took the Christmas fair by storm at Fleet School in Gospel Oak on Saturday.
The former Goodies star opened the annual fair at the Fleet Road primary school, where his granddaughter was a pupil.
Fair co-organiser Bee Rowlatt said: “He came in and gave a little speech before he cut the ribbon. He had all the children rolling around on the floor laughing – he was great, he was really getting into it.”
Fair highlights included Santa’s grotto, an auction and party games, together with plenty of food and mulled wine for
the grown-ups.
The event raised £3,200, which will help pay for school trips and for a planned adventure playground. “It’s a fantastic figure,” said Ms Rowlatt. “Lots of local businesses were very generous, so I’d like to thank them for their support. “Everyone pitched in, so the day actually involved the wider community, and not just people associated with the school.”
