Canopies put wind up Miller
OPERA director Dr Jonathan Miller has warned that new marquee-style canopies at Inverness Street Market in Camden Town are dangerous in high winds. He has described how he saw traders run for cover on Friday as winds lifted the new green and white tents in the air.
Dr Miller wants to see the canopies scrapped and replaced with sturdier wooden market barrows.
He said: “The wind just lifted up these idiotic tents. It could have decapitated someone. “If you get these euro-trash tourists coming in you may as well give them something nice to look at. “Traditional market barrows would be a much better idea.”
