Town suffer a Spartan slump
Spartan South Midlands League
Division One
Cranfield United 3
Kentish Town 2
TOWN slumped to their sixth defeat of the season on Saturday when they suffered a shock result away against a struggling Cranfield United. Alistair Shearer scored from the spot to give the home side a slender lead at the interval. The goal was all that separated the two sides until the 76th minute when Cranfield skipper Adam Woodin prodded the ball home from close range to leave Town trailing 2-0.
Town battled back to equalise. Lee Scott coolly sidestepped the keeper to slot the ball into an empty net and minutes later Town were level when sub Bradley Newall managed to get an outstretched leg to the ball to stab it over the line.
But in the final minutes of the match Shearer grabbed a late winner with his second of the game to put a serious dent in Town’s title aspirations.
