Record finish for Swiss Cottage
SWIMMERS from Camden Swiss Cottage recorded their best-ever result in the Speedo League at the University of East Anglia 50m pool in Norwich on Saturday. The triumphant team amassed a creditable 290 points to finish in third place overall, ending the afternoon just 31 points behind winners Ipswich and 24 points behind second-placed Hatfield.
The result of the competition came in the girls 11 and under relay where Amelia Brown, Tamsin McKinnon, Clara Ahmed and Kelly Hookway joined forces to win the freestyle with an impressive time of 2.10.18.
The gold rush continued in the medley relay with Kelly swimming backstroke, Clara the breaststroke, Tamsin the butterfly and Sophie Boyes the freestyle to lead Camden Swiss Cottage to a stunning victory in 2.28.46.
Golden girl Devon Robins secured valuable points to help lead Camden Swiss Cottage to their best-ever league result when she won the 15-and-under 100m fly and finished second in the 100m breaststroke.
The medal haul continued with Eugene Potter, Jessica Hobbs, Ensger Kotterink, Felix Samuels and Harry Needs all winning deserved gold’s in their respective events to help secure valuable points for the Camden and Islington club.
Club mates Reut Benaim, Ed Walsh, Tamsin McKinnon, Matt Chappel and Vincent Neves also captured vital points with a series of second place finishes.
Meanwhile youngsters from Islington-based swimming club Anaconda were celebrating after securing their place in Division One of the league for another season.
