Fencers seal top three finish with a flourish
MEMBERS of Camden Fencing Club continued their success in the Leon Paul Junior Series at the weekend when they turned out for the latest sabre tournament at Whitgift School in South Croydon. The club, which is based at Acland Burghley school in Tufnell Park, sealed a top three finish in the Under-11s boys category, with William Moore taking gold, Joshua Allen winning silver and Rubin Amsalem clinching bronze.
Teammate Josh Spoor did well to finish in seventh place, while Eden Amsalem also put in a good performance to reach the last 16.
Camden added two more gold’s to their medal haul with Soji Aiyenuro taking top spot in the Under-15s boys event, and Nicolas Sabharawal winning the Under-13s boys competition. An eighth-place finish from Alexis Friday and a last 16 standing for Jack Horrix continued Camden’s impressive results in the boys Under-13s category.
In the girls competition, Rachel Friday and Emma Horrix both won bronze medals after finishing third in their respective Under-11s and Under-13s competitions.
