Dublin Castle boss Henry Conlon with Aglaia Tarantino and Caterina Argese at the classical music day
Indie pub hosts classical gig
HAMPER madness didn’t stop at the New Journal quiz held last week at one Camden Town pub – on Sunday another got in on the act.
Following on the heels of the Oxford Arms in Camden High Street, the Dublin Castle pub in Parkway – long-known as an indie music stronghold – held its first-ever classical music concert in aid of our Hamper Appeal.
Former barmaid Aglaia Tarantino tickled the ivories while her opera-singing collaborator Caterina Argese hit the high notes at the charity benefit gig.
Publican Henry Conlon, who fronted all costs of the gig – including hiring a baby grand piano – put all money raised to the Hamper Fund.
He said: “It was a great afternoon and a great day at the Dublin. “Classical music has never been played here before but it certainly has a place here now. They were brilliant, and the audience loved it.”
