Crisis is averted
A HOMELESS centre opened in Euston over Christmas after councillors defied crime and safety warnings from their own experts and approved an 11th-hour application from the charity Crisis.
The experts recommended refusing the scheme, considering that old-fashioned crisis shelters were not in keeping with Camden’s modern hostel policy.
But Councillor Chris Naylor, who approved temporary planning permission, said: “We felt that for people in Camden’s hostels and homeless people across London it made sense to give them a chance.”
