Hampstead still setting the pace as youngsters take festive footie break

BUDDING soccer stars from across the borough will be counting down the days until the second half of the season kicks off in the Camden and Islington Youth League after swapping their football boots for Christmas stockings and taking a deserved winter break.
League leaders Hampstead will be looking to continue their perfect start to the season having won all six of their opening games in the Under-9s North Division.
Boasting the only unblemished record in the league, Hampstead have opened up a five-point lead at the top of the table, scoring 21 goals and conceding just three times along the way.
Crown and Manor are Hampstead’s closest rivals and will be looking quickly to close the gap at the top when they return to action in the new year.
Chapel Boys are three points clear in the Under-9s South Division having picked up 16 points from their opening six games.
Hampstead and Futebol de Salao have emerged as the early leaders in the Under-10s ‘A’ League.
Hampstead are currently three points clear, but FDS have a game in hand.
Primrose Hill are third on goal difference having notched up 10 points from six games.
Islington Admiral Youth and Peel are first and second respectively in the Under-10s ‘B’ Division.
Both teams remain unbeaten this season, but Islington Admiral Youth are leading the way with a two-point advantage over rivals Peel.
Just three points separate the top four teams in the Under-11s ‘A’ League. Hampstead are top with 16 points, but St Pancras are just a point behind with a game in hand. Islington Admiral Hawks and Brunswick are both just three points off the pace.
In the Under-11s ‘B’ League Chapel have edged out in front thanks to a comm­anding victory over the
Isledon Wolves.
Malik Smith bagged a brace, while Fergus Selsdon and Yusuf Ali were also on target as Chapel ran out 4-0 winners.
Regent’s Park are hot on the heels of Chapel in second place, just three points behind the leaders. Meanwhile the defeat against Chapel leaves Wolves sitting in fifth place out of nine teams.
Islington Admiral Youth are six points clear at the top of the Under-12s ‘A’ Division, but Hampstead Hawks can reduce their lead to just three points if they win their game in hand.
The Under-12s ‘B’ League is producing one of the closest title races so far with Crown and Manor and Chapel both on 16 points.
Lyndhurst are just a point behind in third, while Highgate Rangers are two points off top spot in fourth place.
FDS are top in the Under-13s ‘A’ League, but Tufnell can join them on 21 points if they win their game in hand.
In the Under-13s ‘B’ league Bridge Rovers are holding on to top spot having played more games then their chasing rivals.
Islington Admiral Youth and EC1 Youth are second and third respectively just four points behind.
There is also a four-point difference at the top of the Under-14s League with Lyndhurst topping the tree on 20 points.
Isledon Wolves and Brunswick complete the top three with 16 points each.
The Under-15s Division promises to be another close finish. Park View Rangers are top with 21 points, while Islington Admiral Youth are two points behind. Kentish United and Somers Town are also in the running with 18 points each.
