The No 393 route extension is useful and an obvious choice
• THIS is to support the recent extension of the bus route from Caledonian Road to Chalk Farm.
This is a very useful route, and one which is an obvious choice. For a long time, before the 393 was even in existence, I had wondered why more use was not made of Leighton Road, an obvious link between Kentish Town and places east, avoiding the congestion of central Camden Town and need for awkward changes between at least a dozen routes (in particular, currently avoiding the overcrowded freebie 29s – including some passenger behaviour which ought not to be tolerated.).
Furthermore, the bus 390, a double decker, has now been using the upper part of Leighton Road, from Torriano Avenue for a long time, preceded there also by previous different route numbers.
Going west this route enables links with Highgate West Hill, Haverstock Hill and Adelaide Road for Swiss Cottage and beyond, in all cases avoiding more circuitous access (my daughter can now travel to her work from Lower Clapton or Stoke Newington to Kentish Town, without having to change).
I think those living in Leighton Road who object ought to widen their considerations.
