There’s more to come: Eduardo
Striker promises Gunners fans that his cracking Christmas wasn’t a one-off
NEW fans favourite Eduardo bagged three goals over Christmas and the new year and then pledged to be more than just a cameo striker in the Arsenal first team.
The Croatian striker has only played a bit-part role in the Gunners’ electric season so far – but when called on against Everton and West Ham, he showed the Arsenal supporters why Arsene Wenger has put his faith in him.
He said he had now adapted to life at the Emirates Stadium and was ready to weigh in with a major contribution. “I think everything will get better and come more easily, there will be more to come,” the 24-year-old said. “Once a chance comes to you then all there is to do is to be calm and focus on scoring – it sounds simple but that’s all. I know how Arsenal works – bringing players in and giving them time to blend into their surroundings. I feel stronger. I feel better and more comfortable playing here.”
While Arsenal no longer have Thierry Henry in the attacking department, competition for places in the forward line is building with Emmanuel Adebayor, Robin Van Persie, Theo Walcott, Nicklas Bendtner and Eduardo all looking to lead at the front.
Eduardo – spotted by Wenger when the Gunners played his former club Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League last season – said: “It was really important to score my first goals in the Premier League. It’s a very demanding league, the most demanding league in the world. I understand that it takes different players different amounts of time to adapt but I do feel I’m getting there. We know there is a lot of the Premier League yet to be played, and ups and downs are inevitable.”
