There’s a big jump between easing in and diving!
• YOU reported (January 3) that the winner of the Highgate Lifebuoys’ Christmas day swim at Highgate pond “gently eased himself into the chilly water and swam breaststroke’’.
In fact the winner had dived in and swam the crawl stroke.
Members of the club would not wish to have it recorded for posterity that they lost to a feeble swimmer and the winner would not like his loyal wife of 35 years to think he is an exagerating wimp who did not dive in four degrees water.
