Town stay in touch with title rivals
Spartan South Midlands League
Division One
Sport London Benfica 0, Kentish Town 0
TOWN are one of three teams sitting two points off the pace following their goalless draw away against Sport London Benfica on Saturday.
Stony Stratford Town, Haringey Borough and Kentish Town are all within touching distance of leaders Hoddesdon Town after notching up 37 points from the opening half of the season.
Town came within inches of taking the lead when Paul Butler fired a free-kick just wide of the mark from 25 yards. It was then Benfica’s turn to miss a golden opportunity when Edgar Sa Da Silva blazed over the bar from five yards out.
With the influential figure of leading scorer Jonathan Donoghue suspended, Town failed to create any telling chances, and were forced to settle for a draw as they look to keep up the pressure on their title rivals.
