TOTTENHAM got their New Year off to a flying start on Sunday when they came from a goal down to beat Colney Heath at the Fred Knights Sports Ground.
The visitors took a surprise lead midway through the first half when they suspiciously beat the offside trap to score the opening goal of the game.
And Tottenham were lucky not to fall further behind as Colney hit the crossbar and then forced a magnificent save from goalkeeper Lacey Amato.
The home side got the break they needed when Rosi Webb raced clear of the Colney defence and slotted home the equaliser on the stroke of half-time.
Spurs created a string of chances in the second half, which all went begging until Samarawit Bereket squeezed home the winner with 10 minutes left to seal a hard-fought
2-1 victory.

Katabella 1, Fulham Compton 1
(Kats win 4-3 on penalties)

THE Kats came out on top following a dramatic penalty shoot-out against Fulham Compton in the opening round of the Russell Cup on Sunday.
The Camden-based side dominated the first half and were unlucky not to go ahead, with Jen Coupland and Rachel Ojelade both missing good chances.
Kats finally made their pressure pay off in the second half when Ojelade spotted the Fulham keeper off her line and unleashed a spectacular shot to give the home side a deserved lead. But in the final minutes of the game, Fulham levelled the scores to force extra time.
With neither side able to find a winner in added-on time, the game hinged on the dreaded penalty shoot-out.
Kats’ stand-in shot-stopper Franziska John superbly saved two Fulham attempts, before joining Ojelade, Jasmin Crilly and Jo Strous on the score sheet to seal a nail-biting 4-3 victory.
Rivals Camden Town won’t be joining Katabella in the next round after they were knocked out of the competition by Hemel Hempstead. Goals from Suran Dickson and Mary Guest gave Town a glimmer of hope, but Hemel were in unstoppable form as they ran out 7-2 winners.

Hampstead 10, Tottenham B 1

HAMPSTEAD hit double figures on Sunday when they stormed to a resounding victory over the Tottenham Hotspur ‘B’ team despite playing the entire game a player short.
Claire Field led the charge with four stunning strikes, while Vanessa Oppong and Rosie Kosky both bagged a brace. Goals from Sophie Fogarty and Samara Scott completed the rout.

Lianne leads cup goal riot

Arsenal 11, Newquay 1

STAR striker Lianne Sanderson scored four goals as FA Cup holders Arsenal repeated their 11-1 League Cup victory over Newquay at Meadow Park on Sunday.
Jayne Ludlow and Ciara Grant both scored twice, while former Haverstock pupil Rachel Yankey and Gemma Davison were also on target. Defender Mary Phillip netted her first-ever goal for the club to complete the scoring from the penalty spot late on.
The Gunners will now face London rivals West Ham in the fifth round on Sunday, January 27 at Boreham Wood FC.
Arsenal return to Premier League action this Sunday with a tough away game against Leeds United, kick-off is at 2pm.
