Ricardo shines in Sheffield
IT proved a quiet weekend for top clubs Highgate Harriers and London Heathside.
Ricardo Beckford was among the few Heathsiders competing as he grabbed a top-10 finish in the National Heptathlon championships, which were held in Sheffield. The all-rounder recorded a new indoor club record as he finished eighth after notching up 5040 points with a series of creditable finishes in the 60m, the 60m hurdles, the 1000m, the long jump, the shot putt, the high jump and the pole vault.
Junior Leon Zeniou recorded 4030 points to finish in 22nd place. Elsewhere Anna Critchlow finished first in the Richmond Park 5K multi-terrain time trial with a time of 19mins 41secs.
Meanwhile the Highgate Harriers will return to action on Saturday when they field teams in the Metropolitan League cross-country meeting at Perivale.
