Members of the dance class at One KX busting some moves on the dance floor
From limping to doing the lindy hop
PEOPLE of all ages and abilities got down on the dance floor at a new community exercise venue on Friday. More than 100 people donned their dancing shoes for classes in Egyptian dancing and the lindy hop to jazz and tap at One KX centre in Cromer Street, King’s Cross.
A full week’s schedule of dance classes was provided in the space of four hours at the freebie event, aimed at highlighting the health benefits of dancing.
The council’s experienced team of instructors teaches 50 exercise classes across the borough every week.
Many of the council’s Camden Active Health classes are tailored for different health needs such as chair-based exercise for people with reduced mobility.
Evelyn Markham already does belly, line and ballroom dancing.
She said: “Twenty years ago I had arthritis of the hip and couldn’t walk without a limp. Dancing has reversed that and now you would never know.”
