Cumberland lose Aussie net star
PLAYER of the match Alicia Cross signed off in style on Saturday when she led Cumberland to a convincing victory over Oakwood in the Premier Division of the Middlesex League.
One of the club’s star players over the last few seasons, Alicia showed off her shooting skills one last time before she prepares to return to her homeland of Australia.
On the court, Cumberland controlled the early exchanges with a combination of fast paced passing and accurate shooting giving them a six-goal lead by the end of the first quarter.
The Camden-based team continued to dominate in the second-half as they strengthened their grip at the top of the table.
Their resounding 51-26 victory maintains their unbeaten start to the season.
Cumberland will enjoy a deserved weekend off before preparing for their next game against Hyde Park on February 9.
The club is looking to bolster its membership in 2008 with several positions in key teams opening up for the second-half of the season.
