Holder Dunbar in the hunt

PLAYERS from the Chalk Farm Pool League took a break from club competitions on Monday to take part in the singles and doubles trophies.
Singles champion Tony Dunbar from Boston Rimmers moved a step closer to retaining his crown after he beat team-mate Roger Crossley and Boston Potters’ Ceaser Contri to reach the quarter-finals.
The Boston Arms boast the most players in the next round of the tournament with Steve Heron, Robert Murphy and Simon Wild all sealing a place.
Justin Skinner from Boston Boys, Neil Hegarty from the Gloucester Arms ‘B’ team, Steve Payne from the Unicorn and David Dugdale from Unicorn Ladies also progressed.
Five clubs will be represented in the final stages of the doubles. Paul Smith and Mark Jackson will represent the Unicorn, while Fred Faulkner and Rory Cooper will fly the flag for the Boston Arms.
Boston Boys’ John Cinnamond and Jim Read, Alan Brown and Mark Dwyer from Boston Potters, and James Mason and Gerry Fleming from Peckwater also all won.

• IN the Camden Pool League the Sovereign ‘A’ team remain top following a 5-4 victory over the Golden Lion ‘A’ team.
St Aloysius are still in the title hunt after they beat Cock Tavern 5-4.
Escape and the Sovereign ‘B’ team both ran out 5-4 winners in their respective games against the Victory ‘B’ team and the Golden Lion ‘B’ team.
