• THE people of St Pancras and Somers Town and the three ward councillors are determined that the post office at 18 Crowndale Road NW1 won’t be closed down as part of the so-called savings.
Letters have gone to the Post Office, to the consultation team and to the boss of the Post Office seeking a meeting to present the petition we have started in all the shops and estates in the area of people opposed to the closure, and that deputation will consist of the local councillors, shopkeepers and residents. Petition sheets are in all shops in the area and residents have kindly agreed to collect signatures on estates.
A demonstration to show our opposition to the closure of the Crowndale Road post office is being held on March 3 at 3.30pm outside the Londis supermarket/post office in Crowndale Road. Please come along.
The Post Office now tell us that local residents in the area could use the Camden High Street post office, a walk of a mile and half. Or… the post office in Highgate Road. A bus ride of half hour or walk of four to five miles. Who does their surveys for them?
Last time they closed down the post office in Royal College Street we were told – Oh, that’s OK – residents can use the post office in Crowndale Road – and now that is to be closed!
It is a very popular and well-used post office and we will fight to the end to get it retained.
Sign the sheets in any shop in Crowndale Road or if they are brought round to your estate or in other streets in the area.
