Relay maestros Rincon, Mogg, Boesma and Freer clinched gold to complete the 29 medal haul |
Swiss Cottage Masters’ massive medal haul at Swansea
SWISS Cottage Masters swimmers brought almost 30 medals back to north London this week after fine performances at the Swim Wales nationals in Swansea.
Making the biggest splashes for Camden Masters swimmers were gold medalists Nari Lawry (30-34 age group), Nuala Muir Cochrane (40-44), Matt Molloy (35-39), Andrew ‘CJ’ Brown (40-44), Kyla Steenhart (30-34), Lucy Mullan (25-29), Oscar Rincon (30-34), Susan Halter (80-84) and Michelle Williams.
Aaron Boesma (30-34) shrugged off illness to win two silver and three bronze, Paula Melly hit personal bests but just missed out on the medals, while Adam Freer (30-34) took bronze in the 200m breast taking two seconds off his best time.
The men’s relay team of Boesma, Freer, Rincon and Steven Mogg clinched gold to complete the 29 medal haul for the Camden club.
Islington’s Anaconda club swimmers were equally successful in their North London Graded League meet in Ealing on Saturday.
Personal bests were set by Jodie Sees, 13, who set the mark of 1.14.00 in 100m front crawl and 34.74 in 50m distance.
Steve Jones, 14, knocked 1.2 seconds off his personal best time in the 100m front crawl and set best times in 50m front crawl and butterfly.
Other wins, all in the breaststroke, were recorded by Max Kirby (25m), Joseph Heekin (25 and 50m) and Roisin Heekin (50m).
There was heartache for Anaconda A in the Gordon Trophy, however. The team recorded an impressive seven individual wins and 10 relay wins but disqualifications for relay change-overs saw the team miss out to winners Bethnal Green.
Star swims came from John Rivers, Freddie Cornwall, Samara Williams, Morgan Mockler, Julia Taylor and Clare Walton. |
