Swiss cottage swim maestro harry in record form
STAR swimmer Harry Needs smashed club, personal and county short course records at the second weekend of the Middlesex County Age Groups. Camden Swiss Cottage swimmer Needs won gold in 100m and 200m breaststroke, 100m fly and 200m free.
The 15-year-old set new club and county short course records in 200m breaststroke (2.27.35) and 100m fly (58.61) and personal and club bests with his 1.59.35 for 200m free.
Also on the winner’s podium were Kelly Hookway, 11, and Felix Samuels, 14, with double gold, silver and bronze.
Ed Walsh, 18, and Alex Mackay, 16, were in top form with two golds – Walsh missing out on Nigel Goldsworthy’s 1980s club 200m free record by just 0.19 of a second.
Double breaststroke gold went to 12 year olds Sarah Taylor-Reid and Alex Peake; Devon Robins, 14, won double silver and triple bronze and set a new club 100m breaststroke record of 1.16.56.
Naiomi Wakeham-Aredes, 15, won double silver and bronze; silver and bronze went to Ilya Skliarov, 15, and Robin Neumann, 10; Bogac Ayhan took silver and bronze went to Camilla Grossman, Tamsin McKinnon and James Burgess.
