Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 3 April 2008

Parking dilemma

• IN Bassett Street there are traders’ parking bays, numbered 42 to 46.
There was also bay 47, which has recently been turned into a disabled parking space.
There is a sign up in bays 42, 43, 44, stating CA-L Residents’ parking Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri 8.30am to 6.30pm. Thu and Sat traders only 8.30am to 6.30pm T42, 43, 44. There is no mention of 45 or 46.
Most of the traders’ bays are empty as they park in the residents’ bays free after 11am Thursday or all day Saturday. Wardens are putting tickets on cars parked in 45 and 46 and, in some cases, towing the cars away. I watched a car being towed on Saturday 15 minutes after a parking ticket was put on it. The warden photographed the notice about 10 times but the penny didn’t seem to drop that those bays weren’t included in the notice. There is no clear notice to say whether or not parking is allowed. Anyone fined for parking in bays 45 or 46 should claim their money back.
