Gunner girls capture County Cup
County Cup Final
Arsenal 3, Millwall 1
ARSENAL Ladies netted their first silverware of the season on Wednesday when they beat Millwall Lionesses 3-1 to lift the London County Cup at Wingate and Finchley’s Abrahams Stadium.
The Gunners started brightly and took an early lead when Yvonne Tracy rose to head home Lianne Sanderson’s 12th minute corner. Sanderson (pictured) doubled the advantage on the stroke of half-time when she unleashed a low shot into the corner of the net.
Millwall came out strong in the second-half and pulled a goal back courtesy of a perfectly placed free-kick from defender Amy Mason. But super sub Jayne Ludlow came off the bench to seal the win with a fine strike from the edge of the area.
Meanwhile on Sunday Arsenal moved to within three points of their fifth successive Premier League title after goals from Kelly Smith and Rachel Yankey sealed a 2-0 win over Bristol Academy.

Spurs 4, Woking Ladies 0
TITLE chasing Tottenham moved second in the table with a convincing win over Woking on Sunday. Striker Rosi Webb opened the scoring when she added the finishing touches to a neat passing move between Jenny Curtis and Jessie Richards. Webb then combined well with Samrawit Bereket to create a chance for Richards, who fired the north Londoners into a 2-0 lead.
Bereket added a third before substitute Faye Callaway completed the scoring.
