Fantastic four lead St Paul’s to glory
Gold rush for swimmers at primary school championships
FANTASTIC four Alice Long, David Kirkham, Lucy Molyneux and Gabriel Ware put in super shows as they led St Paul’s Primary School to glory in the 2008 Swimming Championships.
Held at the Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre, the swim stars clinched gold in their mixed freestyle relay, to gain valuable points for the Primrose Hill-based school.
There was double medal joy for Gabriel and Lucy when they came home first in their respective front crawl competitions.
The gold rush continued with Charlotte Kirkham winning the girls’ Year 3 freestyle, and Maude Elms the girls’ Year 4 backstroke.
Sebastian Fox McClure clinched St Paul’s only solo silver medal in the boys’ Year 4 breaststroke, while Xavier and Natalie Liu Roach, Francesca Bull, Harry Marks and Jack Park all scooped bronze medals.
In the relays, Natalie, Maude and Helena Whitfield finished third in the girls’ medley, and Ricky Redhead, Joseph Schmitt, Louis Cattaneo and Jack Park took second spot in the boys’ freestyle event.
Organised by the Camden Schools Sports Association and Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club, the tournament saw 12 schools from across the borough competing for top honours.
New End Primary School were crowned overall girls’ champions, and Hampstead Parochial won the overall boys competition.
But the day belonged to St Paul’s, who finished with a winning score of 394 points.
Running away with it!
SPEEDSTERS Elliot Reidy and Sophia Parvizi-Wayne were smiles ahead of the rest after they won the annual Cross-Country Championships for the fourth year running.
Elliot, who goes to Hampstead Parochial School, and Sophia, who attends New End School, lined up alongside more than 1,100 primary school children at Parliament Hill Fields.
Organised by the Camden Schools Sports Association, 23 schools from across the borough battled it out for honours. |
