Weather makes May Day festivities a hit
KENTISH Town City Farm staged its annual May Day Fair on Monday with the sunny weather helping to a attract its biggest-ever turnout. Activities included a maypole dance, pony rides and bric-a-brac stalls.
Play development co-ordinator Simone Uncle said: “The weather is half the battle really.”
In addition to the activities, the Green Man bagpipe player Dave Brooks impressed audiences with his live music and colourful attire.
The day also saw a free-range barbecue for the revellers and stalls sold home-made cakes. “We have a small number of staff but it is mostly run by local volunteers, both children and adults,” Ms Uncle added. “This year we had plenty of volunteers.”
