THE judge who will decide the fate of the mother and her children facing eviction by Camden Council urged the New Journal to continue reporting an issue “that affects tenants not just in Camden but across the country”.
Deputy District Judge McCormack was handed a copy of Thursday’s New Journal report by council lawyers as he reopened the case.
He commended the New Journal’s decision not to identify the children in the case – and imposed a legal restriction protecting their anonymity until a decision on their future is reached.
He asked this newspaper to send a message from the court to neighbours of the family in Gospel Oak, saying: “The local authority when it speaks about helping people is being sincere. “When it takes the view that people cannot be helped, that they are anti-social, something has to be done. The local authority is concerned.”
