Best time for Samara
HIGHGATE Harrier Samara Williams was in dazzling form on Saturday when she recorded a new personal best on her way to winning the Under-17s 1500m title at the Middlesex Championships. Despite being two years younger than her rivals, the Under-15s runner finished the race in just over five minutes at the Copthall Stadium.
Club-mate Stanley Harrison also won gold when he finished an impressive 12 seconds clear of his nearest opponent in the Under-13s boys’ 1500m.
Alexandra Eastman was unfortunate to win only silver in the Under-13s high jump when the winner achieved the same height but took gold on countback.
The only senior Highgate member to compete in the championships was Andrew Aitken, winning silver in the 5000m.
On Saturday Highgate Harriers go to Mile End Stadium for their second Southern League Division One match of the season.
