Golden girls make history in Sheffield
GOLDEN girls Devon Robins and Reut Benaim put in perfect pool performances at the weekend as Camden Swiss Cottage Swimming Club made history at the National Speedo League Cup Final in Sheffield. Devon recorded a time of 1:05.10 as she glided through the water to clinch victory in the 15 and under 100m fly.
The speedster also placed fourth in the 100m breaststroke, before hitting a personal best to take fifth place in the open 200m Individual Medley.
Team-mate Reut (pictured) also struck gold when she won the 13 and under 100m fly with a time of 1:07.45.
More than 500 teams compete nationwide to be one of the top 20 squads taking part in this year’s final. After three gruelling rounds in the London League, the Camden team won their way to Sheffield to compete in the ‘A’ Team finals for the first time in the club’s history.
The medal count continued with Tamsin McKinnon, Ensger Kotterink and Vincent Neves all enjoying silver successes.
Camden also won a string of silvers in the relays. McKinnon, Kelly Hookway, Amelia Brown and Clara Ahmed finished third in the girls’ 9-11 years 4x50m freestyle, a feat repeated by Neves, Billy Bradley, Will Rittenhouse and Eugene Potter in the boys’ event.
Camden’s 4x50m medley relay team of Kotterink, Iao Wong and Alex Peake also sealed a place on the winners’ podium when they finished third in the boys’ 13 and under event.
