Wake up to imminent change in capital’s healthcare
• I HAVE just left (6.45pm Monday May 19) a meeting of the Camden Care Trust Board at St. Pancras Hospital which started at 4pm and was still going when I left with the rest of the public.
The main item on the agenda was the working draft (version 1.3 dated May 13) of the Camden Primary Care Trust of their report on the consultation and recommendations for change in the healthcare for London that is due to be considered on June 12.
The main problem with this report and these recommendations is that they do not appear to be based on the views of the residents of Camden, the users of the Camden care trust services or even supported by the local authority consultations in Camden. The real “elephant in the room” is the old problem of funding and who should deliver these recommendations.
Camden residents should know that the one reference to the elderly in this document is at 17.10 on page 90 and is about “end-of-life care”.
Wake up, residents of Camden, and smell the coffee.
