Man dies in Australia road tragedy

A KENTISH Town man has died after being hit by a car while travelling in Australia.
Daniel Fossett, 32, a freelance literary journalist, who worked as a chef and barman to subsidise himself, was out drinking with friends in the St Kilda area of Melbourne when he slipped down a bank on to a road.
An inquest heard how he died after suffering multiple injuries.
Daniel was living near his brother Richard, 33, and his Australian girlfriend, Skylie.
The brothers were brought up in Burghley Road with their sisters, Jody, 21, and Tillie, 11 by his mother, Jenny.
The former Acland Burghley student was writing a book about the women in his life at the time of the accident.
“I think the book was his way of showing us how important we were to him,” Ms Fossett said. “You could be in the lowest of lows but after five minutes in Danny’s company he would’ve lifted your spirits.
“He never had anything but a smile on his face.”
More than 250 people attended Daniel’s funeral at Finchley cemetery last week.
His school friend Jeremy Chivers told mourners: “Yes, he went to two of the best universities in the UK, yes he got letters after his name, yes he wrote many erudite articles, but he never really grew up. Danny was never going to be a ‘suit’.”
His brother Richard said: “He’s the only person I know who’s travelled to all seven continents.
“He shouldn’t be remembered as a victim.
“He crammed a lot into what was a relatively short life. Danny took risks. He knew he had one life.”
