George Hope
George Washington precedent!
PROLIFIC Washington batsman George Hope scored the first-ever double century in the club’s 35-year history on Saturday. Hope hit 209 against Elthorne Park, breaking the club record he set two years ago, hitting 12 sixes and 25 fours.
A well-crafted knock of 56 from Sandeep Kuckreja and 41 not out from Tony Burt were over-shadowed by Hope’s heroics. But their combined efforts gave Washington a commanding lead of 337-5 from their 35 overs.
Elthorne Park lasted just 18 overs before losing their final wicket for just 71 runs, earning Washington a memorable 266-run victory.
