Cumberland club’s joy in securing regional league status
THERE were double celebrations for the girls of Cumberland Netball Club this week. Having won the Middlesex County League, the Cumberland first team (pictured) overcame three top county league winners to secure promotion to the South East Regional League next season.
Meanwhile, the club’s second team were also jumping for joy when star player Claire Risk overcame a field of more than 3,000 runners to finish first in the Race for Life charity run at Hampstead Heath. Raising money for Breast Cancer Research, Claire hit home in 21 minutes to edge out the chasing field.
