Second defeat as Hampstead batsmen slip

Middlesex County Cricket League: Division One
Ealing 160 ao, Hampstead 99 ao

HAMPSTEAD slipped to their second defeat of the season as they lost by 61 runs in their home game against Ealing.
Captain Paul Weekes and Zac Khan combined well as Hampstead opted to take the field. Weekes claimed four wickets for just 52 runs, while Khan finished on 3-19 as Ealing struggled to 160 all out.
But it was a winning target that proved beyond Hampstead, as they managed just 99 runs before crashing out. Brandon Buckley was the pick of the batsman with 28, while Sumeet Sharma finished on 20 not out.

Division Two
North Middx 78 ao, S Hampstead 79-6

TITLE-chasers South Hampstead continued their impressive start to the season with a four-wicket victory.
Having restricted the opposition to 78 runs, South Hampstead made hard work of their task as they lost six wickets on their way to a score of 79. The win leaves South second in the table, three points behind league leaders Shepherds Bush.

Division Three
Bessborough 106 ao, Highgate 108-1

HIGHGATE returned to the top of the table on Saturday with a resounding nine-wicket victory over Bessborough.
Skipper Dave Benton won the toss and put in the visitors who started brightly and were soon on 61-0. Tony Duckett made the breakthrough removing Richard Clarke for 38. When Phil Brown removed danger man Ian Barrie for 17, Bessborough started to wobble.
Duckett picked up another wicket before Benton turned to spin with Craig Gourlay and Syed Karrar. Gourlay struck almost immediately, and for the next 12 overs Highgate dominated. Gourlay tore through the Bessborough batting order, occasionally helped by Duckett and Karrar.
Highgate got off to a poor start with Zac Curtis stumped in the second over. But Jake Sharland and Ponniah Vijendran batted beautifully to guide Highgate home. Sharland finished on 37 and Vijendran hit 52 to seal a fine win.
