Hampstead forced to settle for a draw

Middlesex County Cricket League: Division One

Hampstead 241 ao,
Brondesbury 176-5

HAMPSTEAD’S woes continued on Saturday when they were forced to settle for a draw in their home match against keen rivals Brondesbury.
Again the Hampstead batsmen failed to make a match-winning contribution, only hitting a score of 241 thanks to a late flurry of 70 runs for the final two wickets.
Bowlers Dexter Thomas and Zac Khan were both among the wickets as Hampstead looked to be closing in on a much needed victory. But Brondesbury managed to hold out to finish on 176-5 to claim a four-point winning draw courtesy of a faster run-rate, leaving Hampstead with just a point for their troubles.

Division Two

South Hampstead 242 ao,
Twickenham 117 ao

PAUL Sylvester hit a stunning century to lead South Hampstead to a commanding 125-run victory against Twickenham on Saturday.
Having been put in to bat, Sylvester put in his best display of the season so far to record a score of 101 before being bowled by Justin Scriven. James Nolen and Zeeshan Sialvi added scores of 44 and 39 respectively to give South Hampstead 242 before the fall of their final wicket.
In reply, Vincent Farley was the pick of the South Hampstead bowlers as he took three wickets for just 27 runs as Twickenham were bowled out for 117 within 37 overs.

Division Three

Wycombe H 179 ao, Highgate 180-6

HIGHGATE returned to the top of the table on Saturday following their hard fought four-wicket victory over Wycombe House.
Skipper Dave Benton won the toss, and opted to field. Tony Duckett and Phil Brown used the conditions well as they both claimed a wicket each.
But it was spin bowlers Craig Gourlay and Syed Karrar who tore through the Wycombe batting order to finish with figures of 4-59 and 3-54 respectively to dismiss the home side for 179 in the 56th over.
In reply, Jake Sharland and Ponniah Vijendran grafted hard against the seaming ball to take Highgate past the 50 mark before Vijendran was bowled by Hasan Shah. Sharland went on to score a patient knock of 63, with Gourlay adding a vital 40 not out to help guide the visitors to a winning score of 180-6 within 44 overs,

Friendly

Washington 233-6, Northfields 217-7

OPENER Pete Demetri swashbuckled a well-crafted century on Sunday to lead Washington to victory in Crouch End. Man-of-the-Match Demetri showed great control in the 40-over contest to finish on 103 not out.
Captain Shawn Hill added a vital 49, hitting seven fours and a six in a typically aggressive knock. Their 99-run partnership from 16 overs, gave Washington 233-6.
In reply, Hill, Peter Kloss and Dave Monger all took valuable wickets as Washington restricted Northfields to 217-7 from their 40 to clinch victory.
