Fencers shade it Bronze
CAMDEN overcame the odds to scoop a bronze medal in the fencing finals at the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games on Sunday.
Preparations for the finals couldn’t have gone much worse with a number of key fencers withdrawing late on and other senior members unable to train owing to the fact that they were taking their GCSEs.
But Camden still managed to put in a creditable performance as they overcame teams from Haringey and Lambeth on their way to clinching a third place finish.
In the senior ranks, Daisy Mann-Peet, who goes to Camden School for Girls, Soji Aiyenuro, from Acland Burghley School, and Alex Tofalides, who attends University College School, all showed off their skills as they finished third in their category.
Meanwhile in the junior division, Camille Etchart and Imogen Peebles, who both go to Camden School for Girls, and Acland Burghley’s Felix Jackson combined their efforts to finish fifth.
