‘Spongers’ help raise funds
TEACHER David Benham knew putting himself forward for the Soak the Teacher stall was a mistake when he spotted Christopher Hatton pupils Alfie McKinell and Barnaby Mackay-Howse in the queue. He knew they would give him a soaking (above) but it was all for a good cause, as the Laystall Street primary school raised £1,600 at its annual fundraiser on Saturday.
Other events to catch the eye at the Holborn primary school included an auction – which featured newsreader Jon Snow’s tie – and the dazzling talents of fortune teller Madame Rosita.
Revellers were kept buoyed by food donated to the school by Brick Lane restaurant Tate Continental.
