Medal blitz for fencers

MEMBERS of Camden Fencing Club celebrated a mighty medal haul at the weekend when they competed at the England Youth Championships in Reading.
A team of 19 fencers from the club, which is based at Acland Burghley School in Tufnell Park, produced a series of glittering displays as they fought against more than 500 competitors from across the country.
Fabio Artesi struck gold in the boys’ Under-15s sabre competition, sharing the winners’ podium with team-mate Soji Aiyenuro, who captured bronze. In the boys’ Under-13s sabre, Jack Horrix and Josh Spoor added to Camden’s success when they won silver and bronze respectively.
Golden girl Izabela Sosnowska sealed a commanding victory in the girls’ Under-15s event. Again Camden just missed out on a top two finish, with Emma Horrix taking bronze.
Zara Ali won the final medal of the day with bronze in the girls’ Under-11s foil event.
