Camden New Journal - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
Published: 24 July 2008

The need for access

• CAMPAIGNING to have an alternative entrance to the new King’s Cross development, by extending Wharfdale Road as a pedestrian and cycle route spanning all the tracks between York Way and the King’s Cross central boulevard and to the western concourse, has come primarily from the Islington side.
But the route is equally important to the people of Somers Town and Camden borough residents further west and to the north.
Funneling pedestrian and cycle traffic on to Euston Road or Goods Way makes no sense at all.
Having no access across the vast King’s Cross site by not providing a bridge flies in the face of sensible policy, and it certainly won’t help provide a sense of security or community in the newly developed area.
CLLR MAYA DE SOUZA
Leader of the Green Group,
Camden Council
