Harrier takes off for new record
NEW recruit Moses Nicholls jumped into the record books on Sunday when he turned out for Highgate Harriers in the Young Athletes League. Competing in the boys’ under-13s long jump, the talented youngster reached a distance of 4.74 metres, breaking a club record of 4.60m which was set by Daniel Jacoel back in 1997.
Club-mate Justin Barret was also a long jump winner, while debutant Oskar Piotrowicz won gold in the hammer throw.
On the track, Finbarr Ricketts was victorious in his ‘A’ string 100m and 400m races, while Stanley Harrison and Samara Williams both won their respective 1500m events.
In Highgate’s senior ranks, Chris Bailey and John O’Shea finished 30th and 84th out of a field of 1,000 competitors at the Bupa Great City Run at Hyde Park on Saturday.
