Awards night joy for potters
PRIZE potters from the Chalk Farm Pool League were honoured at a special awards ceremony on Saturday as players celebrated the end of another successful season. Held at the Regent’s Park Tenants Association, the Boston Potters were the big winners on the night after taking the Division One championship. As a mark of respect, the trophy was named after Sam Kelly, one of the driving forces behind the league, who died earlier this year.
Elsewhere members from the Murray Arms were presented with their mantle after being crowned champions in Division Two.
The Boston Arms were the knock-out kings as they won both the Liam Tarrant Cup and the Divisional One Cup, while the Cricklewood Hotel ‘B’ team captured the Divisional Two Cup.
In the individual competitions, Tony Dunbar and Kenny Dunn retained their singles titles.
There was also a special cheer for Chas Griffin, who won the Bill O’Connor Senior Trophy, named after the former chairman of the league, who also died this year.
Potters pair Alan Brown and Mark O’Dwyer won the doubles crown, while PJ Fahy from the Boston lifted the Governors Shield. The Unicorn’s Paul Smith was presented with his trophy for winning the first-ever Masters title.
